What is Holistic Nutrition?
Holistic health is an approach that supports a person’s well being by taking into consideration all aspects of his or her life. This natural approach begins with a healthy balanced diet tailored to the needs of the individual. Holistic health and nutrition address biochemical individuality, proper digestion, toxicity and detoxification, rest, and homeostasis.
• Biochemical Individuality:
There is no “one size fits all” solution for health. Every person has different needs for vitamins and minerals, macronutrients like carbohydrates, fats, and protein, exercise and sleep, recovery and social interaction. We are all born with our own unique genetic predispositions.
• Proper Digestion:
You are a product of what you are able to digest and assimilate. Many factors can interfere with these processes and must be addressed if optimal health is to be achieved.
• Toxicity and Detoxification:
Unfortunately, we live in a polluted world, and virtually everyone on the planet carries some degree of toxic load within the cells of their body. These toxins can interfere with normal bodily processes, which stand in the way of optimal health and a long healthy life. Detoxification is often necessary in order to reestablish normal body processes, allowing the body to heal and regenerate.
• Rest:
We all live busy lives, but sometimes we have to just stop. Our bodies need time to recharge. Sleep allows the body to heal and supports many other important bodily functions.
• Homeostasis:
The body has an innate ability to seek equilibrium and health. A holistic approach to heath and nutrition supports and enables to body’s ability to heal and to regain, and maintain homeostasis. As a holistic health and nutrition advisor, I will help you find your personal formula for good health. You will discover which foods are right for you, as well as the proper amounts and ratios.
